Event Description:

This session offers a thoughtful overview of career paths and growth in mental health, helping counsellors make informed, values-aligned decisions about their work and learning. It explores settings including agency, nonprofit, solo private practice, and group practice. The session also shares strategies for navigating the often-overwhelming world of continuing education and offers ideas for diversifying work beyond one-to-one counselling. Ideal for counsellors at any stage seeking clarity, direction, and a sense of fit in their professional journey.

Presenter: Lisa Cavey, CCC, RCC-ACS, Founder & Clinical Director of Women's Mental Health  

Lisa Cavey (she/her) is the Founder and Clinical Director of Women’s Mental Health, a group practice based in Vancouver, BC. She is dedicated to creating a safe, trauma-informed environment for both clients and clinicians, and is passionate about empowering women through therapeutic work, leadership, and clinical supervision. As an Approved Clinical Supervisor with the BCACC, Lisa mentors counsellors and students, supporting them in honing their skills and navigating the complexities of the mental health field. Her neurodivergent-affirming, person-centred, and attachment-based approach emphasizes self-compassion and parts work to help clients build confidence and a deeper sense of fulfillment. Outside of her clinical practice, Lisa is an adjunct professor at Adler University and serves on the Board of Directors for the BC Chapter of the CCPA. She is also a mother, bringing the same
