Event Overview:

Part Two – Clinical Applications

Building on the foundational content, this advanced-level day focuses on applied clinical skills and integration. Topics include perinatal clinical case formulation, systems of support, and treatment planning. Participants will take part in interactive and collaborative learning that encourages critical thinking, bias awareness, and whole-person care approaches. The day concludes with a guided reflection and practical strategies to integrate training concepts into clinical work.

Learning Objectives – Part Two:
By the end of this day, participants will be able to:

* Develop a clinical formulation for perinatal clients using biopsychosocial and trauma-informed frameworks.
* Create inclusive, individualized treatment plans and identify appropriate referral pathways.
* Demonstrate awareness of cultural, spiritual, and systemic influences on perinatal mental health.
* Engage in collaborative dialogue and critical reflection with peers.
* Apply practical strategies to integrate training concepts into real-world clinical settings.

Meet Your Presenter:

Avril Ferguson, Registered Psychotherapist, PMH-C, CC-PMH, CC-BRT, CC-PGL, a recognized perinatal mental health specialist and educator. Avril is the founder of Norfolk County Counselling & Psychotherapy, as well as Northwell Counselling—a northern, rural, and remote division of the practice—and the Norfolk Perinatal & Parenting Institute, which provides training for clinicians and support for families across underserved communities.
